USPS Changes Its Rates (June 23, 2019)

USPS Rate changes are scheduled for June 23rd, 2019.

The updates will affect the dimensional weight rates and dimensional weight divisor value.

  • The 'LargePackage' PackageType is going to represent packages that exceed the default weight threshold (12 x 12 x 12). When utilizing this PackageType, Priority Mail, Priority Mail Express, and Parcel Select Ground shipments will require the dimensions to be specified when printing a label.
  • The “Package” PackageType will represent packages that are a cubic foot (12 x 12 x 12) or under, and will not require the dimensions to be specified when printing a label. If provided, dimensions will be used to calculate any applicable dimensional or cubic rates per existing behavior.
  • The default dimensional weight divisor will be changed to 166. This divisor and other factors can be modified for those who have Negotiated Service Agreements. USPS is going to support all available configurations.
  • The USPS will reduce the maximum weight from 4 lb. to 15.994 oz. for First-Class Mail International (FCMI) - Large Envelope or Flats with ContentType = Documents.
  • The maximum weight for FCMI Large Envelopes and Flats with ContentType? Documents will be raised from 4 lb. to 4.4 lb.

USPS rates will be updated automatically within its API and other solutions.

Bear in mind that the new rates will only be returned in case the ship date is set to June 23rd or later.

By the way, you are welcome to try our USPS Integration extensions for PrestaShop, Magento and WooCommerce
